Ricardo driveline and transmission systems, components and technology were represented in podium finishes by its customers in three out of four classes – including two class winners – at the endurance race classic on the weekend of 18-19 June.
The 84th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans was marked drama from its opening under safety car running in the torrential rain on the afternoon of Saturday June 18, to the shocking last lap failure of the leading car just three minutes from the end of the race. In a highly competitive field with close racing throughout, Ricardo’s endurance racing customers were represented in every class – LMP1, LMP2, GTE-Pro and GT-AM – and enjoyed a highly successful weekend.
“Ricardo would like to congratulate its many customers that competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this weekend,” commented Ricardo Performance Products managing director Mark Barge. “Ricardo has been a trusted supplier of driveline and transmission technology to this market for 23 years, and we understand the importance of lightweight design, high quality manufacture and race-robustness in this highly competitive form of endurance motorsport. We look forward to continuing to support all of our customers through the remainder of this year and into the 2017 season.”
