Ricardo is celebrating after winning the Supply Chain Excellence Award at The Manufacturer MX Awards 2022. Senior members of Ricardo’s Performance Products team collected the award at a ceremony and gala dinner at the Exhibition Centre in Liverpool on 17 November 2022.
Over 40 of Britain’s top manufacturing companies made it through to the finals of The Manufacturer MX Awards, which are the UK’s largest and most rigorous industry awards programme. Delivered by The Manufacturer in partnership with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), The Manufacturer MX Awards exist to encourage, benchmark, and celebrate manufacturing excellence, with every stage of the programme providing value for participants, whatever their excellence maturity.
Against tough competition from other finalists, Ricardo emerged victorious in the Supply Chain Excellence category, which looked for evidence of an integrated supply chain strategy which embraces the whole business process: from raw materials or component procurement to customer delivery. The judges commented on Ricardo’s: “..agile approach to layout customisation, waste reduction initiatives and its good range of IT solutions.”
Martin Starkey, Managing Director of Ricardo Performance Products, who collected the award said: “We are absolutely delighted to have won the Supply Chain Excellence Award at The Manufacturer MX Awards 2022 which are the gold standard in industry awards. This award is a wonderful testament to the excellence and resilience of our supply chain team here at Ricardo.”
“For over 50 years, we have been accustomed to working within very demanding industry sectors which have required the highest possible standards of supply chain management. During the past two years, as a result of the global pandemic, the war in Ukraine and more pull from customers, investors and consumers for sustainable supply chains, our supply chain experts have faced unprecedented challenges. However, they have more than risen to those challenges and this award is a brilliant recognition of their quality, innovation, collaboration and desire to go the extra mile in serving our customers, suppliers and the environment.”
Commenting on this year’s programme, Managing Director of The Manufacturer, Grace Gilling said: “With UK manufacturers facing unprecedented pressures with rising energy costs, a looming talent and recruitment crisis, and continued supply chain issues, it is exceptional that so many companies have committed to participating in a rigorous benchmarking and continuous improvement programme, and to recognise successes of teams, and put themselves on a pedestal. Now is the time to showcase the amazing variety of UK manufacturing.”
